about white Lightning labradors
Some facts about Labrador retrievers!
The Labrador Retriever did not come from Labrador, but from Newfoundland!
The Labrador Retriever is one of the prime breeds selected as guide and rescue dogs.
The most distinguishing characteristics of the Labrador Retriever are its short, dense, weather resistant coat; an "otter" tail; a clean-cut head with broad back skull and moderate stop; powerful jaws; and its "kind," friendly eyes, expressing character, intelligence and good temperament.
Color: black, yellow or chocolate. Yellows range from light cream (white) to Fox red. Chocolates can range from light chocolate to dark chocolate. A small white spot-on chest is permissible. Any other color combinations are a disqualification. (Silvers, champagnes and charcoals cannot be shown in AKC events.)
Temperament: Intelligent, keen and biddable, with a strong will to please.
The working/field or "American" style of dog is the label often attached to a Labrador possessing lighter bone structure and exhibiting more length of leg, a less dense coat, and a narrower head with more length of muzzle. Typically have a higher level of energy.
The conformation/show or "English" style Labrador is generally thought of as a stockier dog, heavier of bone and shorter on leg and with a denser coat, and having a head often described as "square or blocky." They tend to be more laid back but also make great hunting dogs.
Field and conformation type is also based on their pedigree.
American, English and English/American Labradors make good hunting partners, family dogs and are hard not love.
